which is to be an alphabet, (upper case) an original, not using the Type tool, so please post here say what letter you're doing, make a new document, 300x300, newlayer, sketch your letter, fade the layer to say 25%, get the Pen tool and outline your sketch, next make selection from path, then fill path with Layer style pattern. add stroke, or bevel emboss, etc.
Save as psd (for later, whatever) Save it again as jpg, or png upload to e.g. photobucket and post it here, Thanks, when you have that done, do another letter if you want, would be nice to get 26 people each to post though :)

I just use my mouse, do a rough sketch using the brush tool and go over it with the pen tool. Took me ages to get the outline right! The effect is a pretty simple combo of blending options. :) |

Disclaimer: I didn't make this by myself, my boyfriend freehanded it, I scanned it, traced it, cleaned it up to make it more suitable to my tastes, and colored it.
And then got a tattoo of it. |
